Because of their short hair, Beagles are a very low-maintenance pet. We almost never bathe ours, unless they begin to smell worse than the children. The Beagle was recently rated as one of the top 10 breeds for children and families. They are extremely family oriented and the best companion you could ask for.

Beagles come in two sizes: dogs UNDER 13’ called 13" Beagles, and dogs OVER 13", called 15" Beagles. A good weight for the 13 inch is 18 to 20 lbs., and 20 to 22 lbs. for the 15 inch. The life span of the Beagle, assuming he is not over-weight and has good medical care, is between 15 and 18 years of age. Beagles love to travel. The Beagle asks only for love, attention and affection. If you can give these, you'll have a companion and friend for life.
